The Lotto Store at Primm is one of the world’s busiest lottery stores. I know, this might sound strange to people, but locals know perfectly what I am talking about.
It’s the closest place to get lotto tickets if you live in or are visiting Las Vegas. Despite Nevada being the most famous gambling state in the nation, the state doesn’t run a lottery or participate in lotteries such as Powerball or Mega Millions.
Southern Nevada residents often go to Primm to purchase their lottery tickets. In addition to Powerball, Mega Millions, scratch tickets, and more, visitors can also buy California’s lottery SuperLotto Plus tickets.
Winners in Primm
The Lotto Store has at least 8 self-serve lottery machines and cashiers.
There are different options to buy including:
- Picking your own numbers
- Scratch tickets
- Vending machines
- Counter registers
When jackpots grow large, lines snake around the outside of the store, and down the block. It can take hours to get to the cashier to purchase tickets.
The Lotto Store has a reputation for paying out some big prizes. Just a few months ago, a ticket sold at Lotto Store won $344k.
Location
The store is located on Lotto Store Road and has a Nipton, California address, even though the small community of Nipton is more than 15 miles away. Lotto Store Road is entirely on the Nevada side of the border.
The store, which is officially called California State Lottery in Primm, has a country club themed appearance similar to the nearby Primm Valley Resort.
The Prizm Outlets mall is a short walk across the street from the lottery retailer. There are also a variety of restaurants, a convenience store, a Starbucks, a gas station, and a Tesla Supercharger near The Lotto Store.
The Lotto Store has more than two dozen parking spots and can be reached from Vegas in as little as 40 minutes. Avoid going on the weekend for smaller crowds.
South of the store, Primm ends and the desert terrain extends into the nearby Ivanpah Dry Lake.
PICK UP YOUR TICKETS
If you want to press your luck for a few bucks, you’ll want to stop at The Lotto Store At Primm! I did it a couple of times, and since I am not someone who has a luck in gambling, I’ve yet to win a prize.
The Lotto Store at Primm has the following hours of operation:
Monday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |
Tuesday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |
Wednesday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |
Thursday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |
Friday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |
Saturday: | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM |

Store hours may vary depending on the time of year.
Due to high jackpot amounts, guests must be in line two hours prior to store closing to purchase tickets from the cashier.
Other Lottery Locations
If lines are long at the Primm Lotto Store and you’re determined to get a lotto ticket, an alternative lotto vending location is at the Shell Gas Station/Country Store on Cima Road.
The Cima Road exit is Exit 272, which is 9 miles south of Mountain Pass on I-15. It’s twenty-five minutes from Primm.
Additional California lottery retail locations are in Baker, which is a half hour south of the Cima Road exit. See our Primm location for a map and directions.
Summary
I frequently visit the Lotto Store and play, and while I am not successful, I enjoy it. It is a pastime for those who are commuting between two large cities, but for the locals like me, as well.
It is fun, and I fully recommend it.
