My Experience With Buffalo Bill’s: The Old West

Resort and Casino - Buffalo Bills - Primm Valley Resorts

Oh, let me tell you about my recent trip to Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, Nevada. It was quite the adventure, kind of like stumbling into an old Western movie but with modern twists.

First off, the vibe of the place is something else. It’s like stepping into a cowboy’s dream, complete with a giant neon cowboy out front that makes you feel like you’re about to walk into a wild west theme park.

Checking into the hotel, I was half expecting to see tumbleweeds rolling down the hallway, but instead, I got this cool, comfy room that was a nice mix of the old west and modern comfort.

And those beds? Like sleeping on a cloud made of marshmallows, I kid you not. It’s definitely worth having an overnight stay here!

The Meals That Pleasantly Surprised Me!

Dennys - Buffalo Bills

Let’s talk about the food (my favorite topic.) The addition of Denny’s was a lifesaver for my late-night cravings. Pancakes at midnight? Yes, please.

First off, the Wagon Wheel Grill, it’s a gem. Every time I’ve been there, it’s like a cozy retreat with that southwest flair that’s just unbeatable. The burgers are out of this world – I swear, they have some sort of magic seasoning because they taste divine every single time. And the steak and eggs? It’s like they knew exactly what I needed after a night out in Primm.

They’ve also got this chopped salad, and even though salads aren’t usually my go-to, I find myself craving theirs on the regular. What’s cool is that they’re always mixing things up with new southwest-inspired dishes. If you catch them on a concert weekend, the vibe is even more buzzing from early morning till late. Normally, they’re open from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday through Monday, and trust me, it’s worth planning your trip around their hours.

For a touch of elegance, the BB Chophouse is my go-to recommendation. The moment you step in, there’s this large bar that welcomes you – perfect for those evenings when you just want to unwind with a classic cocktail in hand. The steaks? They’re a slice of Tuscan heaven. I don’t know how they do it, but every bite feels like a culinary journey.

Plus, watching the chefs work their magic in the show kitchen adds that extra flair to the evening. It’s like you’re part of the cooking process without having to lift a finger. They’re open Friday and Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM, and it’s the kind of place that makes any weekend special. It’s just the kind of comfort food you need after a day of casino fun and thrill rides.

A Less Than Colorful Casino Experience

Buffalo Bills Casino

Speaking of the casino, it’s got that classic vibe but with all the modern games you’d want. I’m not a huge gambler, but I tossed a few coins into the slots and came out a little ahead. Felt like hitting a mini jackpot, which was pretty sweet, however…

The casino at Buffalo Bill’s feels like a missed opportunity. You’d think with its location and potential, it could be a hotspot for fun and excitement. Instead, it comes off as somewhat lackluster.

The gaming floor, while sizable, doesn’t bring the vibrant energy you’d expect from a place designed to thrill and entertain. It feels as though the zest of Vegas casinos has been diluted down to a shadow of what could be.

The selection of games, on paper, seems adequate, but the atmosphere just doesn’t elevate the experience. Whether it’s the lighting, the layout, or just the general ambiance, something is missing that would make the gaming not just an activity, but an event.

Buffalo Bills Casino and Resorts

It’s as though the casino is resting on the laurels of its location, not quite reaching the potential it has to be a standout destination for gamers and fun-seekers alike.

The service can be hit or miss. While there are certainly employees who go above and beyond, the overall sense of enthusiasm and engagement from the staff doesn’t always meet the mark. In a world where exceptional customer service can make or break a gaming experience, this inconsistency adds to the feeling of an experience that’s just going through the motions.

A Little Bit Of History: 2010’s Closure

Star of the Desert Arena at Primm Valley Resorts

Yeah, so the place shut its doors back on November 29, 2010, and didn’t welcome guests again until Christmas Eve that same year.

That’s almost four weeks of downtime. They weren’t just twiddling their thumbs, though; they were busy giving the whole place a makeover. We’re talking all 1,242 rooms getting spruced up, plus parts of the casino getting some love too.

During the renovation, everything from the gaming floors to the shops, eateries, and even the Desperado roller coaster was off-limits. Can you imagine?

But hey, at least the Star of the Desert Arena kept the lights on, keeping the entertainment rolling while the rest of the place was getting polished up!

To the Casino employee who told me about this story- Thank you! I regret not asking for your name!

Buffalo Bill’s might not be the biggest name on the Strip, but it’s got a charm that’s hard to beat, especially if you’re cruising through Primm!
